Will Building My Website Company Website on WordPress Kill My Credibility?
June 27th, 2006
I came up with the idea that I should really convert my whole website company website to sit on WordPress as a content manager and blogging system.
Moving to WordPress will allow me to frequently update the site, write in my company blog, advertise jobs, publish articles and drive traffic into the site and β as an added benefit, it will enable people to see that I do WordPress designs and customizations.
On the flip-side will prospective clients think to themselves that this guy is using this software so thatβs all I need.
I have basically decided that it will be worth the risk and that I will do it but am looking for other points of view. Please post your thoughts in the comments.

WordPress (and other blogging software) is a Content management system which means that even if a client’s whole web site could fit within the WordPress system, you still have the option of creating the design for the site, therefore, each site will look different.
Secondly, some, perhaps most, sites may have pages that work within WordPress and others that don’t so you may still need to create some pages that don’t depend on the WordPress system.
If you don’t already have a copy of Blog Design Solutions, I recommend you pick up a copy: the chapter on WordPress is very good although I would recommend reading the whole thing. You might want to have a look at my review of the book as well.

Jules,
As always, thanks for your comment. I feel reassured about the move and I agree that it will highlight blog integration and design which will be a big part of business in the next year or so.
I will be rereading your review of Blog Design Solutions later today and I will add it to this week’s book buy.
-Jay
